Doug Collins Then!

The announcement is expected to come today that the Philadelphia 76ers have signed 58 year old  TV analyst and former Coach, Doug Collins, to a four year deal as head coach of the Philadelphia 76ers. Doug Collins has a 332-287 record and has been coach of three NBA teams, including the Chicago Bulls (1986–1989), Detroit Pistons (1995–1998), and the Washington Wizards (2001–2003). Doug is a Philadelphia favorite, having played for the Olypic Gold Team (game stolen by the judges) and for the Sixers from 1973 to 1981 and is a four-time All-Star. The deal was apparently held up as the Chicago Bulls were reportedly seeking Collins as well.

Most likely Collins will form a coaching staff composed of longtime assistant Brian James, Michael Curry, and maybe former Sixer Aaron McKie.

Doug Collins Now!

I think it's a good choice, but I am worried about how the prima donnas on this team will react to a strict disciplinarian? Because last I remember, Doug Collins was a tough Coach.

Excellent choice. If anything, he'll bring discipline back to the Sixers.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm kinda excited about the Sixers this year, and can't wait to see what system Doug is going to put in. I know they are a ways away from contending yet, but they are making progress. Which is all anyone can ask of him, given the team he inherited.
