Welcome to the Philadelphia Sports Lounge Forum. Basically, I created this forum because I grew a little weary of all the caustic, uninformed, nasty, and belittling posts on some other local Sports Forums. I want this to be a place where you can actually talk to people who hold different opinions than your own, without them calling you clueless, moron or nitwit. You can come here and relax and chat about the local sports scene in a friendly, intelligent and unintimidating atmosphere. That means that name calling and personal attacks will not be tolerated. So if you want that type of environment, this is not the place for you. Learn to disagree with others, without being overly disagreeable, and to carry on discussions in a civil manner. We feel we are more than tolerant in this regard. The emphasis here should not be on 1-upping another user with better "personal attacks," but upon sports. That is not to say you are not free to discuss, or even attack anything that a person says. Just that you may not make personal attacks. These are two different things.

Just a few other little things. If you are going to change the subject matter of a thread, and will continue discussing this other topic, you should start another thread instead. Some cross-over is inevitable, but in general, don't have two or three continuing topics, covered in one thread. In other words, the Title of each thread should represent what is in the thread. There are few things more annoying than clicking on a thread entitled "Donovan's Quarterbacking," and wading through 30 messages about the place kicker!

This is also not a place to promote your web site. You may place your web page or even a forum link at the appropriate place in your profile (providing it's fit for mixed company), but you may not simply post an ad or link to your page saying, "come to this site!"

And Remember, DO NOT WRITE MESSAGES IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS! Besides being annoying and irritating to most people, it is difficult to follow. In e-mail communication it is considered bad etiquette, and the online equivalent of shouting.

The basics out of the way, let me say again Welcome to this discussion forum, and we hope that you both contribute, and will be edified by the contributions of others. Your comments and suggestions are more than welcomed, they are honestly encouraged! We're always looking to make this a better place and a better experience.

Sounds good to me. I'm happy to be here and hope that we can get this road on the show. I'm mainly an Eagles fan, but I do get into the Phillies also. And it looks like it could be a good season for them this year. Looking forward to hearing your views, and will be telling my friends to join in. The forum looks great!
