Three years after their acrimonious split led to his trade, and despite all the protests from near every single Sports radio host, and all the "old" good ole' boy nitwits in the media, Allen Iverson was signed to a non guaranteed contract to play with the sixers this year. The :"spin" is that the Sixers needed a replacement player when they lost starting point guard Lou Williams after jaw surgery, but the truth is, this team was losing fans and interest. The Radio heads may hate Iverson, but the polls show that the fans overwhelmingly not only support the return of Allen, but the ticket offices have been swamped ever since the announcement. So much for these shock-jock nitwit radio people being the voice of the fans. Now how many times did I call them nitwits? Because there is going to be a test later.
maybe someday they will realize that the fans of basketball, besides wanting a championship, also want to be entertained. And this team has been like a morgue the last few years.

A homecoming or homewrecking? What is the point of bringing Allen Iverson back to this team? An old ineffective AI wouldn't bring the 76ers back to the ranks of the better teams in the East so I think this move has nothing to do with making this team a contender. It has everything to do with fans, box office and with money. As the Sixers sag in the standings and attendance went down the front office thought they had to bring this cancer back in. The sixers were plummeting in favorability and fading out of the collective consciousness of the city. That's why they did it. Allen is not a good player, and never has been. Bringing in AI does not make the team more relevant and is only a short sighted money grab. Everyone would want to see him play one last time and I guarantee you that you all will regret it.

Listening to Allen Iverson's press conference today, seeing the emotion, his lips quivering, the remore, I saw a man who was humbled. I don't know what else the media wants from this guy. I say let it play out and see what happens. But the media in this town are so vindictive and hateful that even a scene like today is twisted and turned into a negative. Several are already calling it fake. If what I saw was fake emotion, then Allen should win the academy award.
I never thought I'd say it, but I am growing to absolutely hate the Philadelphia Sports media anymore. They are all such hypocrites on their high horses. And the ones who aren't, they son't seem to be allowed to have a platform or high profile. Negativity sells, or at least that is what they think.

Watched the two games with Iverson and the sixers and Allen is obviously rusty. I'll give him a few weeks to see if he still has the juice. I think he does, but the rust is obvious so far.
This team needs a few good players and a new coach, in my view. And until they get those things, they will not succeed. But they are a little more interesting.

Iverson is great, but he can't fix a team that plays no defense, that has two premodonnas on it, and a coach that should take his princeton offense back to Princeston. Another loss tonite, despite Iverson's assists and overall good play. This team has no one who can shoot, and Iverson is trying to fit in by not shooting. It's not Iverson thart is the problem, but the team around him.
Why is it that we all know that, but the Sixers organization is brain dead to that fact.
