DOL-004 - Pre-owned, great condition - Available in Grey (pictured) or Platinum (silver) - Developed by Nintendo Co., Ltd., seldom has a peripheral generated as much buzz upon its release as Nintendo's wireless WaveBird controller. And it lived up to and exceeded all of our expectations. The fact is, the impact of it's release was felt all throughout the gaming industry. It is now the standard by which all other cordless game controllers will now be judged. WaveBird is the gaming world's first "independent" cordless controller pad. And it is simply outstanding for multi-player gaming because, number 1, it is like holding a piece of clay, perfectly moulded to your hand. And number 2, it operates on sixteen available channels, which you can set to correspond to the appropriate channel of each port. Why 16 channels? Because this allows for multiple Gamecubes using multiple Wavebirds in the same vicinity. Cool! The WaveBird is a truly amazing controller with a listed playing range of well over 30 feet. But I personally tested mine at 70 feet and it consistently worked flawlessly. Not that anyone would want to play at 75 feet away, but it's just an illustration of how amazing this controller is. And unlike previous infra-red remote technology, you don't have to point the controller in the direction of the receiver (line-of-sight). This is great for me because half the time I am twisting my body away from the set "as if" I was the actual player in peril. And with the realism and atmosphere of some of the better games today, you actually feel you are. This is because WaveBird Utilizes RF (radio frequency) technology. So that the signal cannot be defeated by obstacles like furniture or people. Another great feature of the Wavebird controller is its long battery life of over 100 hours (on two AA batteries). Controller function is unchanged from the standard (DOL-003) except the Rumble Feature has not been included due to the fact that it would drain battery life.
